As a good insulation does, it will trap the warm air while wicking moisture away, keeping you dry. A snug collar, lycra cuffs and waterproof and breathable membrane are all playing an important role in protecting against the wind and harsh weather conditions. Im very excited about my white/gray Columbia jacket! I purchased this jacket for a trip to Malta( the island) and Italy this coming October and i wanted time to test it out before the trip. So far...it is very comfortable and light weight. The inside is fully lined, even down the sleeve with the mesh that keeps you from getting too hot. The omnitech fabric is not crinkly or noisy but is a little stiff, which is no big deal. This model doesnt have an inside pocket, but the two outside pockets are sufficent. They both zip closed. As with other Columbia products it has a sporty look to it but not so sporty that you couldnt wear it with nice clothes. I dropped some chocolate on the sleeve and was happy that the choclate stain came right out. Whew! Oh, and it packs up nicely and easily into one of the pockets to make its own little pouch. I think this coat will be perfect for travel- waterproof, breathable, comfortable and nice looking.
